Birchal has jumped in to support Good Empire in its bid to remove one million ocean-bound plastics in 2023 as part of their Zero Ocean Plastics Challenge.
Birchal agreed to join the latest Good Empire Challenge, which aims over one summer to bring together 100 teams and 10,000 people to help pick up 1 million ocean-bound plastics from our public spaces.
From now until the end of summer, Birchal’s team will be rolling up our sleeves to pick up plastic to do our part in helping to lighten the load on our oceans.
Cofounder and CEO Matt Vitale said his team was struck by the sheer size of the problem described by Good Empire as more than 8 million tonnes of plastic finding its way to the oceans each year.
“I’d encourage all startups and businesses to get involved,” he said. “It seems a simple but impactful idea that we’re happy to get behind at Birchal.”
As part of the challenge, Birchal would take both team and individual action to help collect its share of plastics from public spaces to remove ocean-bound plastics that are known to destroy ecosystems and decimate marine life.
“We’ve signed up to the challenge, downloaded the app to record our effort over the summer, and we’re encouraging others in our sector to consider also taking on the challenge.”
